We Are Living in a Desperate Time
Scriptures
2 Timothy 1:6
Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.
Mark 2:1-12
And again he entered into Capernaum after some days; and it was noised that he was in the house.
2 And
straightway many were gathered together, insomuch that there was no
room to receive them, no, not so much as about the door: and he preached
the word unto them.
3 And they come unto him, bringing one sick of the palsy, which was borne of four.
4 And
when they could not come nigh unto him for the press, they uncovered
the roof where he was: and when they had broken it up, they let down the
bed wherein the sick of the palsy lay.
5 When Jesus saw their faith, he said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, thy sins be forgiven thee.
6 But there was certain of the scribes sitting there, and reasoning in their hearts,
7 Why doth this man thus speak blasphemies? who can forgive sins but God only?
8 And
immediately when Jesus perceived in his spirit that they so reasoned
within themselves, he said unto them, Why reason ye these things in your
hearts?
9 Whether
is it easier to say to the sick of the palsy, Thy sins be forgiven
thee; or to say, Arise, and take up thy bed, and walk?
10 But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (he saith to the sick of the palsy,)
11 I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy bed, and go thy way into thine house.
12 And
immediately he arose, took up the bed, and went forth before them all;
insomuch that they were all amazed, and glorified God, saying, We never
saw it on this fashion.
Matthew 15:22-28
22 And,
behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto
him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou son of David; my daughter is
grievously vexed with a devil.
23 But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us.
24 But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
25 Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me.
26 But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it to dogs.
27 And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table.
28 Then
Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it
unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that
very hour.
Main Points
Desperate times mean desperate actions.
We need to have the mindset that we don't care what anyone else says: I'm going to Heaven no matter what. For we do not care what anyone thinks. We won't let anything stop us. We will do desperate things. For we will gladly give up dignity for an encounter with Jesus.
Desperation is saying that God can do it. When you don't see a way, but you put all your faith in God.
When you fully rely and trust in God, that is desperation.
When you will do anything God says: Whatever your will is Lord, I will go.
Being desperate is staying faithful to God, no matter what the situation will be. Trusting that God will deliver you and take of you until the end. When you turn to him for help instead of relying on your own understanding or the understanding of the world.
You have to have a deep commitment.
