Sunday Morning with Pastor Henderson - "Absolute Surrender " - 3/1/15

Absolute Surrender

Scriptures

James 1:1-8
1 James, a slave of God and the Lord Jesus, the Christ, to the twelves tribes which are scattered abroad, greeting.
2 My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into diverse trials,
3 knowing that the proving of your faith works patience,
4 and the patience finishes the work, that ye may be perfect and entire not lacking in anything.
5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.
7 For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.
8 A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.

Luke 9:57-62
57 And it came to pass, that, as they went in that way, a certain man said unto him, Lord, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest.
58 And Jesus said unto him, Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head.
59 And he said unto another, Follow me. But he said, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father.
60 Jesus said unto him, Let the dead bury their dead: but go thou and preach the kingdom of God.
61 And another also said, Lord, I will follow thee; but let me first go bid them farewell, which are at home at my house.
62 And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.

1 Kings 20:1
1 And Benhadad the King of Syria gathered all his host together: and there were thirty and two kings with him, and horses, and chariots; and he went up and besieged Samaria, and warred against it.

Main Points

A soft answer turns away wrath.

Test and trials should bring out the best in you.

If you don't absolutely surrender to Him, you're a double minded person.

Surrender means to give oneself up, as into the power of another, submit or yield.

He has good things for you as long as you keep on pushing forward.

Just because a soldier equips his sword, doesn't mean he is going to be victorious.

Just because you read your Bible, go to church, etc; doesn't mean you will be victorious.

You have to surrender EVERYTHING to Jesus.

When you don't tottaly surrender to Him, you're allowing the enemy to get back up after you already knocked them down.

When you don't surrender to Him, you WILL revert back to your old ways!
