Wake Up!


Scriptures

Romans 13:11
¹¹ And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.

Ephesians 5:14-17
¹⁴ Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.
¹⁵ See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,
¹⁶ Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
¹⁷ Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.

1 Corinthians 15:34
³⁴ Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame.


Main Points

We need to wake up our walk with God.

Wake up and do what is right.

Don't fall asleep in church because you will leave without what God has for you.

You can talk to God all you want, but what you really need to do is listen to him.

You don't hear because you don't want to change.

You won't go to Heaven if you reject the Word of God.

When you reject the Word, you are rejecting God.

2 Kings 13:14-18
¹⁴ Now Elisha was fallen sick of his sickness whereof he died. And Joash the king of Israel came down unto him, and wept over his face, and said, O my father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and the horsemen thereof.
¹⁵ And Elisha said unto him, Take bow and arrows. And he took unto him bow and arrows.
¹⁶ And he said to the king of Israel, Put thine hand upon the bow. And he put his hand upon it: and Elisha put his hands upon the king's hands.
¹⁷ And he said, Open the window eastward. And he opened it. Then Elisha said, Shoot. And he shot. And he said, The arrow of the Lord's deliverance, and the arrow of deliverance from Syria: for thou shalt smite the Syrians in Aphek, till thou have consumed them.
¹⁸ And he said, Take the arrows. And he took them. And he said unto the king of Israel, Smite upon the ground. And he smote thrice, and stayed.
¹⁹ And the man of God was wroth with him, and said, Thou shouldest have smitten five or six times; then hadst thou smitten Syria till thou hadst consumed it: whereas now thou shalt smite Syria but thrice.

Matthew 25:1-13
Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.
² And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.
³ They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:
⁴ But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.
⁵ While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.
⁶ And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.
⁷ Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.
⁸ And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out.
⁹ But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.
¹⁰ And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.
¹¹ Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.
¹² But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.
¹³ Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.

Main Points

Too many people come to church just to say the went.  Too many people are just playing church.

God is looking for people who will commit themselves to the work of God and to the House of God.

He cannot fully bless you if you are not committed to him. 

Our attitude limits our opportunities.

Do not let your attitude keep you from the blessings of God.

The wrong attitude can keep you out of Heaven.

In order to have the right attitude you have to come to church, pray, and read the Word.

If you don't do it, you can be sitting in church lost and not even know that you're lost.

Study the word of God. Pray. Follow the Word of God so you can be saved.
