Happy Mother's Day

1 Samuel 1:11
¹¹ And she vowed a vow, and said, O Lord of hosts, if thou wilt indeed look on the affliction of thine handmaid, and remember me, and not forget thine handmaid, but wilt give unto thine handmaid a man child, then I will give him unto the Lord all the days of his life, and there shall no razor come upon his head.

1 Samuel 1:17-22
¹⁷ Then Eli answered and said, Go in peace: and the God of Israel grant thee thy petition that thou hast asked of him.
¹⁸ And she said, Let thine handmaid find grace in thy sight. So the woman went her way, and did eat, and her countenance was no more sad.
¹⁹ And they rose up in the morning early, and worshipped before the Lord, and returned, and came to their house to Ramah: and Elkanah knew Hannah his wife; and the Lord remembered her.
²⁰ Wherefore it came to pass, when the time was come about after Hannah had conceived, that she bare a son, and called his name Samuel, saying, Because I have asked him of the Lord.
²¹ And the man Elkanah, and all his house, went up to offer unto the Lord the yearly sacrifice, and his vow.
²² But Hannah went not up; for she said unto her husband, I will not go up until the child be weaned, and then I will bring him, that he may appear before the Lord, and there abide for ever.
²³ And Elkanah her husband said unto her, Do what seemeth thee good; tarry until thou have weaned him; only the Lord establish his word. So the woman abode, and gave her son suck until she weaned him.
²⁴ And when she had weaned him, she took him up with her, with three bullocks, and one ephah of flour, and a bottle of wine, and brought him unto the house of the Lord in Shiloh: and the child was young.
²⁵ And they slew a bullock, and brought the child to Eli.
²⁶ And she said, Oh my lord, as thy soul liveth, my lord, I am the woman that stood by thee here, praying unto the Lord.
²⁷ For this child I prayed; and the Lord hath given me my petition which I asked of him:
²⁸ Therefore also I have lent him to the Lord; as long as he liveth he shall be lent to the Lord. And he worshipped the Lord there.

1 Samuel 2:1-9
And Hannah prayed, and said, My heart rejoiceth in the Lord, mine horn is exalted in the Lord: my mouth is enlarged over mine enemies; because I rejoice in thy salvation.
² There is none holy as the Lord: for there is none beside thee: neither is there any rock like our God.
³ Talk no more so exceeding proudly; let not arrogancy come out of your mouth: for the Lord is a God of knowledge, and by him actions are weighed.
⁴ The bows of the mighty men are broken, and they that stumbled are girded with strength.
⁵ They that were full have hired out themselves for bread; and they that were hungry ceased: so that the barren hath born seven; and she that hath many children is waxed feeble.
⁶ The Lord killeth, and maketh alive: he bringeth down to the grave, and bringeth up.
⁷ The Lord maketh poor, and maketh rich: he bringeth low, and lifteth up.
⁸ He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, and lifteth up the beggar from the dunghill, to set them among princes, and to make them inherit the throne of glory: for the pillars of the earth are the Lord's, and he hath set the world upon them.
⁹ He will keep the feet of his saints, and the wicked shall be silent in darkness; for by strength shall no man prevail.
¹⁰ The adversaries of the Lord shall be broken to pieces; out of heaven shall he thunder upon them: the Lord shall judge the ends of the earth; and he shall give strength unto his king, and exalt the horn of his anointed.
¹¹ And Elkanah went to Ramah to his house. And the child did minister unto the Lord before Eli the priest.
¹² Now the sons of Eli were sons of Belial; they knew not the Lord.
¹³ And the priest's custom with the people was, that, when any man offered sacrifice, the priest's servant came, while the flesh was in seething, with a fleshhook of three teeth in his hand;
¹⁴ And he struck it into the pan, or kettle, or caldron, or pot; all that the fleshhook brought up the priest took for himself. So they did in Shiloh unto all the Israelites that came thither.
¹⁵ Also before they burnt the fat, the priest's servant came, and said to the man that sacrificed, Give flesh to roast for the priest; for he will not have sodden flesh of thee, but raw.
¹⁶ And if any man said unto him, Let them not fail to burn the fat presently, and then take as much as thy soul desireth; then he would answer him, Nay; but thou shalt give it me now: and if not, I will take it by force.
¹⁷ Wherefore the sin of the young men was very great before the Lord: for men abhorred the offering of the Lord.
¹⁸ But Samuel ministered before the Lord, being a child, girded with a linen ephod.
¹⁹ Moreover his mother made him a little coat, and brought it to him from year to year, when she came up with her husband to offer the yearly sacrifice.
²⁰ And Eli blessed Elkanah and his wife, and said, The Lord give thee seed of this woman for the loan which is lent to the Lord. And they went unto their own home.
²¹ And the Lord visited Hannah, so that she conceived, and bare three sons and two daughters. And the child Samuel grew before the Lord.

Main Points

Consistency is being constant, steadfast, and unmovable

Constant - marked by firm steadfast resolution or faithfulness

Steadfast - firmly fixed in place

Unmovable - not able to be moved

You won't get anything from God if you are not consistent.

Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.

¹⁵ And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?
¹⁶ And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
¹⁷ Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.
¹⁸ And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.
1 John 2:15-17
¹⁵ Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
¹⁶ For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

Main Points

When the Bible uses the word "World" it is speaking of the world system.

He is against the evil in the way human beings act. He is against their thinking, their actions, their lust, and their hatred.

We need to fall in love with the things of God and not of this world.

Matthew 7:7-11
⁷ Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
⁸ For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
⁹ Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone?
¹⁰ Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent?
¹¹ If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?

Matthew 18:18-19

Main Points

There are always some things that we want God to do. But more importantly, there are things that God wants us to do.

Ask God to help prepare you to receive Him. Only you can prepare yourself, but God can help you.

When you ask him for something, he will do it. But you have to do you your part and obey his words.

If you are faithful to God, he will be faithful to you.

Wake Up!

Romans 13:11
¹¹ And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.

Ephesians 5:14-17
¹⁴ Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light.
¹⁵ See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,
¹⁶ Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
¹⁷ Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.

1 Corinthians 15:34
³⁴ Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame.


Main Points

We need to wake up our walk with God.

Wake up and do what is right.

Don't fall asleep in church because you will leave without what God has for you.

You can talk to God all you want, but what you really need to do is listen to him.

You don't hear because you don't want to change.

You won't go to Heaven if you reject the Word of God.

When you reject the Word, you are rejecting God.

¹⁶ And he said to the king of Israel, Put thine hand upon the bow. And he put his hand upon it: and Elisha put his hands upon the king's hands.
¹⁷ And he said, Open the window eastward. And he opened it. Then Elisha said, Shoot. And he shot. And he said, The arrow of the Lord's deliverance, and the arrow of deliverance from Syria: for thou shalt smite the Syrians in Aphek, till thou have consumed them.
¹⁸ And he said, Take the arrows. And he took them. And he said unto the king of Israel, Smite upon the ground. And he smote thrice, and stayed.

Matthew 25:1-13

Main Points

Too many people come to church just to say the went.  Too many people are just playing church.

God is looking for people who will commit themselves to the work of God and to the House of God.

He cannot fully bless you if you are not committed to him. 

Our attitude limits our opportunities.

Do not let your attitude keep you from the blessings of God.

The wrong attitude can keep you out of Heaven.

In order to have the right attitude you have to come to church, pray, and read the Word.

If you don't do it, you can be sitting in church lost and not even know that you're lost.

Study the word of God. Pray. Follow the Word of God so you can be saved.

13 And I gave my heart to seek and search out by wisdom concerning all things that are done under heaven: this sore travail hath God given to the sons of man to be exercised therewith.

14 I have seen all the works that are done under the sun; and, behold, all is vanity and vexation of spirit.

Romans 5:8
8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

1 John 3:1
1 Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.


Main Points

It's your decision to give your life to God.

To realize that he loves you.

To go back out and commit the same sins you have been commiting.

For every decision there is a consequence.

You need to decide to live for God.

To get rid of yourself so that Jesus can live inside of you.

Every day we decide who we will serve.
